Kansas

When I think of the state of Kansas the first thing I think of is The Wizard Of Oz. After that passes, I think about how I always heard of Kansas being a state filled with farms, that is often devastated by twisters and has a bang average soccer team. The western two thirds of Kansas lie in the epicentre of the Great Central Plains. With that being said it is no surprise that it is known as the "wheat state" and the "breadbasket of the world" ,so it is this feature that mainly typifies the people of Kansas. Kansas produces wheat and bread to such an extent that much of the state is self sufficient in such commodities whilst also exporting. Censuses postulate that in 1999 a single farmer in Kansas was responsible for feeding 128 people.

According to statistics from the National Climatic Data Centre , Kansas has reported more tornadoes than any other state, bar Texas in the years spanning from 1950-2006, reportedly experiencing over 50 annually. Kansas is home to thousands of environmentalists and this is certainly  typified by the states features. This is because there is a huge need to predict potential storms in the area to limit the effect on human life.
